The die is cast
“The die is cast!” 後來“The die is cast”或“cross the Rubicon”(可參歌直“streets of love”詞語解析)经常使用來形容“決心已下”、“義無反顧”或“背城借一”。 At all events, what use was there in delaying? The die is cast (thrown) and now or tomorrow the issue must be the same.

President Bush Discusses Energy Initiatives in Athens, Alaba
June 21, 201:38 P.M. CDT THE PRESIDENT: Thanks for ing by to say hello. Mr. Chairman, thank you for your kind introduction, and thanks for the invitation to tour this impressive facility. The restart of Browns Ferry Unit Number 1 represents the first nuclear reactor to e online in the United States in more than a decade. (Applause.) This is a demonstration that one is capable of doing a job on time and on budget. And I congratulate you all for your hard work, and thank you for the contribution you're making to the United States of America. I'm going to talk a little bit about nuclear power today, and there's no better place to do it here than with a group of folks who understand the great benefits of nuclear power to our country. I believe that it is essential that we have a prehensive energy policy to be able to deal with the challenges we're going to face in the 21st century, whether that be energy independence or economic security or good environmental policy. And at the core of such policy must be electricity generated from nuclear power. (Applause.) I'm also here to nudge Congress along. They're working on a bill -- (laughter) -- that I hope that they can get to my desk, that is a good bill, a balanced bill, a reasonable approach to making sure we continue to be wise about how we use energy in the United States. I do want to thank Bill for his leadership, and I thank the members of the board of the TVA. I thank Tom Kilgore for taking time to visit today. He's led me on a tour with R.G. Jones. Some of you may have heard of R.G. (Applause.) R.G. and I discovered we're both 60. (Laughter.) We were born in 1946, which is a fine year to be born, at least as far as R.G. and I are concerned. (Laughter.) I reminded him 60 is not as old as it used to sound -- until I climbed up all those stairs to get to the control room. (Laughter.) I also want to thank Brian O'Grady, the Vice President here. (Applause.) Put a good man who understands nuclear power as the head of the Energy Department, Sam Bodman. He's with us today. Mr. Secretary, thank you for traveling with us. Appreciate you ing. (Applause.) Also with us is Dr. Dale Klein, Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory mission. It's an important position. It's a position that's going to expedite the regulations so we can get more plants up and running. And I'll talk a little bit about his intentions and our intentions to help increase nuclear power here in the United States. I'm traveling with a fine United States Senator, in Jeff Sessions. (Applause.) As well as the Congressman from this district, a man awfully proud of the work you do here, and that's Bud Cramer. (Applause.) Finally, we let a fellow from Mobile tag along with us, Congressman Jo Bonner. Appreciate you ing, Congressman. (Applause.) I thank all the employees who work at this plant. Thanks for what you're doing. Thanks for being skillful. Thanks for working hard. Thanks for helping the country. The world is seeing the promise and potential of the peaceful use of nuclear energy. I emphasize that word, peaceful use, because one of my predecessors, Dwight David Eisenhower, in 1953 called on the world's scientists and engineers to find a way to produce peaceful power from atomic energy that would serve the needs, rather than the fears, of mankind. That's exactly what we're doing here. You're serving the needs, rather than the fears, of mankind. You're helping implement the vision of President Dwight David Eisenhower.

Is Failure a Bad Thing?
Failure is what often happens. It is everywhere in our life. Students may fail in exams, scientists may fail in their research work, and athletes may fail in petitions.
Although failure happens to everyone, attitudes towards failure are various. Some people don’t think their failure is a very important thing at all. So they pay no attention to it. As a result, they will have the same failure a period later. Some people think themselves are fools and lose their hearts in everything after they get a failure. Consequently, they spend their time and energy on useless things and they may really be fools as they have thought.
Other people are quite different from the two kinds of people mentioned above. Instead of being distressed and lost, they draw a lesson from every failure and bee more experienced. After hard work, they will be successful in the end. It is said that failure is the mother of success. Success will be gained after times of failures so long as we are good at drawing lesson from our failures.
In my opinion, failure is not a bad thing, the really bad thing is taking a failure as failure or even lose our heart after failure,

December 21, 2002THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. As families across the nation gather to Christmas, Laura and I want to extend our best wishes for the holidays.We hope that this Christmas will be a time of happiness in your home, and a time of peace in the world. In this season, we with our families and deeply miss love ones who are no longer with us. Thousands of families in our nation are still grieving over the terrible losses that came to them last year on September the 11th. We have not forgotten their loss and we continue to pray for their fort.The Christmas season brings a deeper concern for fellow citizens in need. Our country is prosperous, yet we must also remember there are pockets of despair in America. Some men and women are facing the struggles of illness and old age with no one to help them or pray with them. Other Americans fight against terrible addictions. Some young men have no family but a gang. Some teenage moms are abandoned and alone. And some children wonder if anybody loves them.We all share a responsibility to help, both through our government and through individual acts of passion. In this season of giving, I hope all Americans will look for opportunities to donate and volunteer where the need is greatest. By reaching out to a neighbor in need, we make our country a more just and generous place.Our entire nation is also thinking at this time of year of the men and women in the military, many of whom will spend Christmas at posts and bases far from home. They stand between Americans and grave danger. They serve in the cause of peace and freedom. They wear the uniform proudly, and we are so proud of them.I have met with these idealistic young men and women across America and around the world. I know the sacrifices they make. And in every place they serve, they can know that they have the love of their families and the gratitude of their nation.At this time of year, we appreciate all the blessings that fill our lives, especially the great blessing that came on a holy night in Bethlehem. The Christmas story speaks to every generation. It is the story of a quiet birth in a little town on the margins of an indifferent empire. Yet that single event set the direction of history and still changes millions of lives.For over two millennia, Christmas has carried the message that God is with us, and because he is with us we can always live in hope. The world we live in is very different from the world of ancient Bethlehem. Our need for that hope is still unchanged. In all the challenges and dangers of our day, we still seek the promise of peace on Earth.Thank you for listening and merry Christmas.

1、六級攷的不是才能!六級的詞匯是有限的,其實我在第三次序四次參减六級攷試的時候,單詞就已經不需求揹了,每次攷前將轻易记記的100多個冷僻單詞復習一下就能够了(冷僻單詞我在之前的帖子中列過)。然而有一點须要大傢留神:六級的單詞往往攷第两個意思,韓譯中,而不是第一個,事實上越難的攷試攷的意思就越靠後,我在這次攷試之前重點將歷年單詞攷察的意思从新復習了一遍,並依据這個規律將一切單詞的第二個意义也復習了一遍;
